MAVEN TECHNOLOGY ANNOUNCES
DEVEOPMENT OF AN ADVANCED,
STATE-OF-THE-ART EMERGENCY PENDANT
________________________________

(Los Angeles, CA and Ra ‘anana, Israel; September 9, 2009)

MAVEN Technology (MAVEN), an early-stage U.S. healthcare company with operations in Israel, announced today development of a new product in its line-up of innovative solutions for large, under-recognized healthcare problems of the senior/mature population.  The new product, a new-technology emergency-call pendant, is different than pendants offered by other companies because it uses cellular wireless technology which makes base-stations obsolete.

MAVEN is developing a new-generation, advanced emergency-call pendant that will revolutionize the industry.   Other emergency-call pendants worn by Seniors have two major disadvantages.  First, the call button on the pendant has a limited range from the base-station located in the Senior’s home, preventing the user from notifying the call center of an emergency if the user is not at home.  Second, even if the user is at home and the emergency signal is received by the call-center, the user may not be close enough to the speaker and microphone in the base station to talk to the call-center attendant. A recognized problem among Seniors is that they may experience a fall or other medical emergency in the home and be unable to explain their situation to the call-center attendant, because they are in another part of the house far from the base station.  Even worse, if they are not home when the emergency occurs, the emergency-call pendant does not work at all.

MAVEN’s new, stylish pendant contains a speaker and microphone, and communicates directly with the emergency call-center from any location, making base stations obsolete.  Users can notify the call-center of an emergency anywhere they are in the world where there is cell-phone coverage. Equally-important is they are never out-of-range of the speaker and microphone which are located in the pendant.

The new pendant will be available in several models.  Enhanced models contain GPS capability which notifies the call-center of the location of the user in case he or she is too injured to speak, or is unconscious.  Other enhanced features include fall-detection with automatic emergency notification to the call-center, as well as sensing extended periods of unusual inactivity, also with automatic notification to the call-center.

Availability of the new pendant is scheduled for 2010, six months after funding.
